VFR Landing View for use with Wilco's 767 PIC

This VFR Landing view is a modified panel for use with PIC's 767. This package contains no original Wilco gauges etc, so must be used with PIC 767 to work. The switch-over gauge was originally designed by Lee Hetherington. Taxi Light gauge originally designed by Gauthier Halbardier and the XMLSound by the late Bill Morad. The XML sound and Taxi light gauges are included in thier original form as requested by the Authors.

Recommended for use with a Posky/PIC Merged Aircraft.

Instructions:


Please BACKUP your PANEL CFG FILE before installing!

Installation:

1] GAUGES: Place the WHM-kevents gauge and the B767XML-767PIC folders into your Flight Sim 2002 gauges folder here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\GAUGES

Be sure that you place the B767XML-767PIC folders intact into the FS2002 gauges folder,
not just the contents.

*** With the "XML SOUND" folder: Open it and;

a: Copy the contents of the gauge folder to Fs2002 gauges folder.

b: Open the sound folder and copy the "FSSound.dll" file to your FS2002 Modules folder.

c: Copy wave files from the sound folder to your FS2002 Sound folder.


2] PANEL: Place the new Panel cfg and 767Landing bitmaps into your PIC panel folder here:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft\767 PIC Wilco Publishing\Panel


*** You can choose between two types of landing panel, one with some post showing on the left and one without. The default is set to the post version. You can manualy change this in the panel cfg, look for this entry:

TO SWITCH VIEWS see attached JPEGS for gauge locations. Also as an alternative to the click spots, the following key assignments control the panel switch:

SHIFT 1 = Toggles the upper panel
SHIFT 2 = Toggles the main panel
SHIFT 8 = Toggles the landing panel

A joystick or yoke button can be programmed to a combination of all three of these key
combinations at once so that hitting that button will provide an instantaneous switch from
the normal panel view to the landing view. A second hit of the switch will toggle the view
back again. Many flight controllers allow for recording keystrokes. If you have one of those
or have another way of assigning keystrokes to a key, program the key to the following:

([SHIFT 2] + [SHIFT 1] + [SHIFT 8])

If during repeated reselections of views, you get all three views or some other odd
combination appearing on the screen, simply use the toggles shown above individually to
remove and add the panel required. Your programmed button will then work properly again.


***PLEASE NOTE!!!! If you have ANY saved PIC 767 flights PRIOR to using this panel SETUP, you will need to load up the saved flight and RE-LOAD the aircraft and then RE-SAVE IT. This also goes for any DEFAULT PIC 767 flights. FS2002 saves all settings including {view settings} so re-loading the aircraft is necessary. A good rule of thumb: If your saved flight was with the default aircraft, load a Posky Merge aircraft then re-load the default aircraft. If you saved with Posky, load a default aircraft then re-load the Posky. You will never have to repeat this once done as long as you re-save it. If this is not done you will have the upper panel not set correctly and the view down will be pronouned do to prior settings before the new panel setup was installed. You can also delete any saved PIC flights to save yourself the hassle and start fresh.


***When saving a new flight, please switch back to the main panel FIRST then save it. If you want to use the Pegasus style ADI always choose it while in the MAIN PANEL not the landing panel.

***When changing aircraft {Default or Posky}, do not change while in the Landing view.

Use of the default aircraft {i.e. the default exterior model} with this Landing panel is not recommended, although it will work, you will not have landing lights availible from the cockpit. I suggest using a PIC/Posky Merged Aircraft. It provides almost double the frame rate over the default exterior. You can find it here:

The Panel's default zoom is set to .70 for both main and landing panel. Feel free to adjust to your liking. Just a note, whatever you set will effect either panel. You may also wish to adjust the view_dir for seat height. Look in the panel cfg for this entry:

I have well over 100 hours getting this panel to a workable point. The gear issue taking up the the majority of my time. My interest in doing this project was to provide users of PIC 767 with a nice alternitive to the default panel view for landing while maintaining the PIC look. I think I have achieved this. You now have landing lights, correct gear retraction and raindrops showing on windscreen.

I would like to thank Mike Bevington for all his help in this project, without him, this current package would have never been a reality. I would also like to thank Lee Hetherington (KBED) for the use of his switch-over gauge {modified} and Gauthier Halbardier for the use of the taxi light switch! Thanks to Mark McGrath for adding the click sounds and placement of the Taxi switch.

A special thanks is in order to Bill Morad {xml sound gauge} who has just left us for that better place in the sky. I'm sure those new wings are awesome Bill! We won't forget you.
